Valerie Said has been performing most of her life. At the age of five she began private piano lessons. During her childhood, she performed in church and various community theater productions. She was also invited with her high school choir to perform Beethoven's Mass in C Major at Carnegie Hall in 2004.
In 2008, Valerie received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University. After graduation she began teaching Elementary Music at Canton Charter Academy in Canton, Mi. In the fall of 2009, Valerie Said became the Associate Director of Choirs at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park where she would collaborate and co-direct with her former teacher/ mentor, Jennifer L. Neumann. During her tenure, the P-CEP Choir program grew in numbers and course offerings. Under her direction, the P-CEP Choirs performed at various community events, with the University of Michigan Women's Glee Club, and with the Michigan Philharmonic. Her choirs received Excellent and Superior ratings at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District and State Choral Festivals. She has served as vocal director for the P-CEP Park Players' productions of Oklahoma! and The Pajama Game. Currently, Valerie teaches out of her home in South Lyon and two days a week in Plymouth at Northridge Church School of Performing Arts. Valerie is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association. |
